Did your pool pump stop working? Do you need a second pump to help power a waterfall? Read below for the ultimate guide of pool equipment in Cambodia

Pool Equipment Repair or Replacement

Variable Speed Pump

The first and easiest way of updating your pool is changing your pool equipment. Updated your pool pump from a single speed pump to a variable speed pump will lower your utility bill a lot, especially with Cambodia’s expensive electricity. Another advantage is the variable speed pump can be new live to older waterfalls, or returns as the speed of the water can be change, thus changing the waterfall affect.

The two best (in my opinion) manufacturers are Pentair and Hayward. Between these two I prefer Pentair as their pumps seem to last a little longer. Emaux is my preferred Chinese pool equipment manufacturer. They are headquartered out of Hong Kong and have a good reputation.

Next up to update is your filter. The only reason to update your filter is if it is pretty old or severely undersized for your current pool.

  • Sand filters can have the sand emptied out and replaced with new sand or updated with glass media which helps filter debris a little better and doesn’t need to be replaced every 5 years or so like pool filter sand.
  • Cartridge filters will need to be cleaned at least once a year, but twice is recommended. I suggest having two sets of filters. When you wash them, just take the 4 (usually 4) filters out and give them a good rinsing with a garden hose or a pressure washer if you have one. They need to dry for 24 hours and thats where the second set comes in. Just take the dirty filters out, and replace immediately with the second copy. You can clean the dirty filters when free and can let them dry with out being rushed.
  • If you would rather have a professional clean them, just contact us today and we are more then happy to clean them.
  • Lastly are D.E. filters. D.E. or diatomaceous earth is the best at filtering, but is more complex, and usually I will only install them for pool owners

In Conclusion, I prefer cartridge filters, however sand filters are fine and so is D.E. D.E. filters are the best at filtering, however it is a little complicated and requires more maintenance. Cartridge filters are the 2nd best at filtering, and don’t require backwashing, but are a little more expensive initially then a traditional sand filter which main benefit is economical.
